  • What is a Structural Observation Report and why do I need one?

A report prepared by a Professional Engineer summarizing damage or lack thereof. The report is commonly used for insurance claims and real estate transactions.

  • My house has settled, what do I do?

Depending upon the degree of settlement, you may need to refer to a Civil Engineer (drainage) or a geo technical engineer to determine soil strength parameters to resolve the problem.

  • How do I correct an unpermitted room addition ?

Typically, you will need to prepare plans and calculations as if the work has yet to be performed.  Obtaining accurate information on the condition or configuration of hidden systems (electrical, plumbing, foundations) is very difficult because you can’t see it. A permit is issued by the local Building Department.  The Building Inspector may require that you expose the systems mentioned above to ensure that your room addition has met your local Building Code requirements.
